Hello to all Glittered Readers!
Today I wanted to do a round up of all the things I’ve been loving on Pinterest lately. Make sure you go follow me right here to see all I’m pining for and pinning. 🙂
Before we get into that though I have a little update. If you’ve read my past posts for the last month or so, you may remember that I talked about how my computer was dying on me. I was in denial for a while and thought it was just running slow, but no, it’s basically called quits on our relationship. What that means for A Glittered Life, my regular blogging, and the posts I WANT to put up, is that they’ve been at a stand still.
I have 3 photo journals I want to get up for you guys and I’ve been pretty upset that I haven’t been able to get those up, or really any new content. I’m able to get these posts up through my boyfriends computer but I’m unable to get my pictures up on his computer. Also I really like being creative and getting into my blogging zone on my own computer. That may sound weird, but we both have our own computers and I just feel like A Glittered Life is trapped inside my dying Macbook. All will be well soon though! We are going to an Apple specialist tonight and I’m praying that it’ll be a hard drive fix or something that doesn’t involve me having to buy an entire new computer.
So basically the update was that I have a lot of great content on the way for you all, but until I can get my computer up and my pictures and files back, we are going to make due with a Pinterest Round Up. 🙂 Which is still great because I love Pinterest! Please subscribe because there are so many great posts that will be coming in the next few weeks, especially gift guides! One way or another I will have my own computer by this time next week.
Okay, onto Pinterest. So the picture above can be found here along with 7 other stylish ways to wrap your Christmas presents this year! This year our tree and decorations are the traditional green and red colors, plaid, and wood. I wanted to have a rustic, plaid, vintage feel in the house. I know I’m going to divide a lot of people when I say this, but I want to decorate before Thanksgiving! I usually have no problem until waiting for the day after Thanksgiving to put decorations, but this year I’m already in the jolly spirit. I want to light my sugar cookie candle, get the tree up, and watch Elf with a cup of hot cocoa. However, that will have to wait for another week because Shane insists we celebrate Thanksgiving before Christmas. Psh… 🙂
Next is this amazingly cozy looking bedroom. I know this won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I found this picture on Pinterest and it’s a Buzzfeed article of 15 minimalist looking bedrooms. I don’t know if I’ll ever be a true minimalist but I love the thought of being one, and these bedrooms give me the visuals that I want for Shane and I’s bedroom!
A moment of appreciation for this drool worthy picture. Don’t these look amazing! When I pinned this recipe I didn’t even know what flavor these rolls were but they looked so amazing I didn’t care. Make sure you check out the recipe too! There is a glaze on top of the rolls in other pictures. They are pumpkin spice cinnamon rolls, and I am seriously considering making these for Thanksgiving morning.
I am not much of a baker. I LOVE to cook, I feel that I’m an excellent cook, and I love trying new recipes. Baking is a totally different world in my opinion though. With cooking you can throw things in and make it your own and with baking I feel that if I mess up one ingredient it won’t taste the way it’s supposed to. I had an especially disastrous sugar cookie memory from High School haunting me to this day. I think I’m ready to dive into baking though! This recipe looks so good and fairly simple so I hope I can’t mess it up. I will report back!
Gyros. One word to my heart. I didn’t know I truly loved gyros so much until this year. I had eaten a few in the past but never really got too attached to them. Then on my birthday I had one and it sparked up a curiosity for them. Then I went to Portland and ate the single best Gyro of my entire life at a food truck and that was it. Gyro’s have claimed my heart. I’m actually hoping Shane will be up for getting one for dinner tomorrow before we go to a play, because a Gyro Hub opened up in Rapid!
I found this recipe on Pinterest and had to pin it because I felt like I could actually make it at home. I always get lamb when I order Gryo’s but I don’t know exactly where to buy lamb in Rapid City, and I don’t entirely trust myself to cook it properly either. Chicken is a different story though. Chicken and I go way back and I can cook it with my eyes closed. So I was happy that I found a chicken gyro recipe that looked simple enough! Again, I’ll have to report back on this.
Finally, I want to end with a recipe that I made for dinner last night! Some key words that I like to see on Pinterest when searching for recipes are Healthy, Easy, Chicken, Skinny, and Crock Pot (or Slow Cooker). I love making fast and healthy recipes and if they can be thrown into a crock pot, even better. I also always have chicken on hand so it’s nice to use it up. I make a lot of the same recipes at home or tweak them a little bit, but lately I’ve been craving new new new! I saw this recipe on Pinterest and it was called *Skinny* *Slow Cooker* Creamy *Chicken*. (Insert draw drop emoji). I was elated! It had minimal ingredients, I’m talking 6 (and one is water and one is chicken so those don’t even count), and it was a healthier alternative to other “creamy” recipes I tend to find.
It took about 4.5 hours for it to be finished but next time I will do the alternative and cook the chicken for 8 hours on low so I can throw it in during my lunch break. This time though, I came home after work and put the ingredients in. When it was time to shred the chicken I could tell by the smell that it would be amazing. You also use a whole bag of broccoli and it was cooked perfectly when the time was up! Shane and I ate this over brown rice, but like the recipe says, it’s great on its own or could be good over pasta.
We had enough leftovers (I used 4 chicken breasts) that Shane has lunch for today and we’ll be eating it for dinner tonight! Huge thumbs up to this recipe! I think it’d be ideal for having a large group of people over, or if you even have more than 2 people in your household. The ingredients are cheap and it makes a lot. We will definitely be making this recipe again.
That is all for me! I want to say Thank You to every person who is reading this post. I would love to hear from you in the comments below! What are your favorite recipes to look for on Pinterest? Are you on my side and want to decorate for Christmas now, or do you side with Shane and want to wait until after Thanksgiving? If you like what you read share it with your mom, sister, best friend, or boyfriend! (He might like to see the recipe pictures you know!) Once this computer issue gets fixed I will have a ton of fresh and fun content up here. 🙂
