How are you all doing? I have been needing some inspiration I am personally OVER winter. I have never liked January or February. At this point, I’m ready for Spring and I associate January/February with blah (minus my anniversary in January!). Sorry guys, maybe one day I’ll associate them with something better but for now I’m dreaming of Spring. It seems to me that I just always have so much more to look forward to in the warm months!
I get to start traveling for work again in March, I head to Texas for work/a mini vacation in April, and then Shane and I are hoping to be moving into our FIRST HOME in May! Until those sunny days come though, I like to spend my free time on Pinterest. For this week’s “Why You So Obsessed with Me?” I wanted to focus on what I’ve been pinning like a mad woman. Enjoy!
First up is home inspiration. Shane and I decided we wanted to stay near family and grow our own family in a real house. Don’t worry, no babies in the near future, but hopefully we can expand our fur baby family. 🙂 We’ve been house hunting for about a month and it’s a little overwhelming. I am very much a visual person. So every house we go to I end up envisioning my entire future in it. If I can’t see my future baby crawling around on the floor or see my sewing machine set up in a room, then I’m not into the house. Picky right? I don’t want to jinx anything, but we have found a house we both really like and we’ll see where that goes!
Anyways, with all this house hunting I’m getting really excited to decorate a HOME. It seems so much more permanent to me than an apartment. I’ll be able to really make this our home and a place we’ll love spending time in. I showed Shane my inspiration for home decorating on Pinterest and asked what he thought. His response? “So our house will be really white & grey?” I like the minimalistic colors, I can’t help it! One thing you may notice about these pictures is that there are plants in a few of them. I do not have a green thumb. My parents garden and my grandma does too, so I’m hoping that with their help I can create a sun room. In the house we like there’s an add-on in the back and instead of just being wasted space I’d love to make it a plant/sun room!
I’m also obsessed with Fixer Upper. Oh Jo and Chip, what I would give to have you do a fixer upper for me. If anyone has seen it, you know that my girl Jo LOVES shiplap. Every house she goes into, she throws more shiplap into it. She says that it’s a staple in Texas homes. Well in South Dakota I’m not sure how many walls have original shiplap but I will be hellbent on bringing it into my home, even it means painting bead board white and DIY’ing it. I’d love to have the white floor like the one above with the chair and pink blankets. I’m months away from moving into our first house but a girl can dream right?
Next up, I’ve been obsessing over mountains. There’s something about a nice mountain picture that just puts me in a good mood. I’m currently finishing editing a 1970’s styled lookbook and my next one will be a mountain themed lookbook! My brother’s girlfriend, Sam, loves the outdoors and mountains too so she’ll be my partner in crime and help me scout out a good location to shoot it. Until those pictures come up I’ll leave these here for you to drool over.
Finally, I’m obsessed over these naked cakes. Is this something anyone else has ever heard of? I came across these “naked cakes” on Pinterest and thought they were gorgeous! I actually don’t really like icing because I get a stomach ache from the sweetness. So I think this idea is perfect for me! Just as with the green thumb, I wasn’t blessed with the baking gene. So I don’t know when I’ll actually be able to make one of these cakes in my real life, but they’re good future wedding ideas! It just makes me happy looking at these! I think the bottom animal one would be amazing for a little boys party.
My mom put similar toppings on my niece’s first birthday cake (above). I think they’re just adorable ideas! I’m always willing to accept a cake (naked or not) if anyone wants to bake and bring me one. 🙂
So those are my current obsessions! I hope you guys enjoyed the visual inspiration. If so, make sure to follow me on Pinterest right here! Coming up this week will be my huge travel journal from my week long cruise to the Caribbean! It was an amazing time, I took some amazing pictures, and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Thanks for reading!
